Flying Future's Active Citizens group are developing a new project called Parents Unite. The project aims to help single parents in Stainforth and district who suffer from isolation, depression and anxiety. It's to help bring single parents back into the community and meet other parents that are in a similar situations.
Flying Futures and Stainforth 4 ALL will be working together to facilitate Parents Unite. Friday mornings will be arts & crafts at the Stainforth 4 ALL library with tea, coffee and chatting to likewise parents. Flying Futures will host Friday nights at the Stainforth Youth Club where you can get active with a range of different sports available.
Parents Unite are also aiming for one fun day trip a month as well as movie nights at St Mary's Church. And of course parents are welcomed to bring along their children, but it isn't required to be able to come.
Parents Unite is being created through Flying Futures Active Citizens group. Active Citizens is a social leadership training programme that promotes intercultural dialogue and community-led social development.
Through the programme, they bring together people with different beliefs and perspective to learn from and share. Working with partners around the globe, they train participants in the skills and knowledge needed to affect social change in their communities. Active Citizens connects thousands of like-minded people around the world who collectively want to make a fairer and more inclusive society.
If you'd like to be part of Active Citizen's they, hold sessions on Wednesday's 10am - 3:30pm at The Hub in Balby. They are currently 14 people on the course with two other projects being created trying to help deprived families and to help the homeless.
