Knit & Natter Group Weaves Warmth Into Mondays
Monday mornings at 11am have taken on a new charm at S4ALL Community Library, where the much‑loved Knit & Natter group gathers for a weekly dose of creativity, conversation, and community spirit.
What started as a simple idea to bring people together over yarn and a cuppa has grown into one of the library’s most welcoming regular meet‑ups. Each session sees a cheerful mix of experienced knitters, enthusiastic beginners, and those who simply enjoy the friendly atmosphere. For many, it’s a chance to unwind, learn something new, or just enjoy the company of friends.
“You don’t have to be an expert,” one regular explained. “Some people come to knit, some come to chat, and some come for both. It’s just a lovely way to start the week.”
Members often work on personal projects, but the group also supports community causes, creating items for charity. Whether it’s a baby blanket, a winter scarf, or a colourful square for a group project, every stitch is made with care.

New faces are always welcome. Anyone curious about joining can simply drop into S4ALL Community Library on Mondays at 11am, borrow some needles if needed, and enjoy a warm drink and a friendly chat.
French for All at S4ALL Library

A fresh burst of energy is filling the afternoons at S4ALL Community Library, thanks to the launch of a brand‑new French class held every Monday at 1pm. The weekly session is already drawing interest from locals eager to pick up a new skill, brush up on long‑forgotten school French, or simply enjoy learning something different in a friendly setting.
The class is designed with accessibility in mind. Whether participants can already say bonjour with confidence or are starting from je ne sais pas, everyone is welcomed with enthusiasm. The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive as the group practises phrases, compares accents, and celebrates small victories together.
“We wanted to create something that was both educational and enjoyable,” said a spokesperson for S4ALL. “It’s not about exams or pressure. It’s about giving people the chance to learn at their own pace and have fun doing it.”
Each session blends simple conversation practice with everyday vocabulary, cultural snippets, and interactive activities. From ordering a croissant to introducing yourself, the class focuses on practical French that learners can use straight away.
Library staff say they’re delighted to see the community embracing the new offering. New learners are encouraged to drop in, no previous experience required. Anyone curious about joining can simply come along to S4ALL Community Library on Mondays at 1pm and take part in a warm, welcoming introduction to the French language.
S4All Kids Club to Welcome Amateur Radio Expert Richard Cook
Young explorers at the S4All Kids Club are in for an exciting few weeks as the club welcomes Richard Cook, an instructor from the Mexborough Amateur Radio Club. Richard, who teaches the amateur radio foundation course, will be spending time with the children to introduce them to the fascinating world of radio communication.
During his visits, Richard plans to show the children how radios can be used to speak with people across the globe. Sessions will cover everything from basic operating practices to understanding the equipment involved. The aim is to give the children a hands‑on experience that blends science, technology, and real‑world communication in a way that’s educational and fun.
Staff at S4All say they’re thrilled to offer this opportunity, noting that amateur radio encourages curiosity, problem‑solving, and confidence. For many children, it may be their first chance to discover how signals travel, how operators connect with distant countries, and how radio remains an important tool even in the age of smartphones. Kids Club takes place on Saturdays 12pm–2pm.
