Christmas Cheer Brings Community Together

Christmas 2025 marked our biggest festive giveaway to date. On 22nd December, our library was transformed into a magical Christmas grotto as we welcomed some very special visitors from the North Pole. It was a truly wonderful day, with over 200 brand-new presents given to children from across the community – our largest Christmas giveaway ever.

The smiles on children’s faces, the excitement in the room, and the sight of families coming together made all the hard work worthwhile. Santa and Mrs Claus thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and sharing the festive spirit.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along, queued so patiently, helped on the day, donated gifts, offered support, and helped spread Christmas cheer. This is what community spirit is all about.
Festive activities began earlier in the week on Friday 19th December, when we hosted a Christmas meal for 40 members of the community. The event was part of our mission to bring people together and offer warmth and companionship to those who may otherwise spend Christmas alone. Guests enjoyed a traditional roast turkey dinner, followed by Christmas pudding and a fun Christmas quiz.

The celebrations continued into the New Year. On Sunday 4th January, 43 children and their families travelled by coach to the Hatfield Woodhouse Phoenix Theatre to see Peter Pan. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all, and children were delighted to be invited onto the stage afterwards to meet the cast and have photographs taken.
